We are 35 days away from the start of Spring Training. While Dave Dombrowski is working on finalizing the 40-man roster, he’s also working on the complete list of Spring Training Non-roster invitee’s.
In a post on the Tigers website, as well as his Detroit Tigers blog, MLB.com Tigers beat writer Jason Beck reports that Jim Leyland’s son Patrick has gotten an invitation to spring training as a non-roster player.
Patrick Leyland, a catcher, joins fellow Tigers 2010 draftee’s Bryan Holaday and Rob Brantly as non-roster invitees at the catcher position. Also coming to Lakeland as non-roster catchers are 2009 draftee John Murrian, and Omir Santos, and Max St. Pierre, who have MLB experience.
Listed as non-roster pitching invitees are Enrique Gonzalez and Fu-Te Ni, who have pitched for Detroit, and John Bale, who has pitched with Kansas City, Toronto, Baltimore and Cincinnati, and Aussie Chris Oxspring who had a cup ‘o coffee with the San Diego Padres back in 2005.
There will probably be other invitations handed out and we will keep you updated here at Tiger Tizzy.com
