Tigers rumored to be in "serious talks" with Jordan Zimmermann

Jordan Zimmermann
This morning, the website MLB Trade has heard that the Tigers are in "serious" talks with Free Agent RHP Jordan Zimmermann.   John Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal both report the discussions have become serious.

Tigers GM Al Avila has stated previously that addressing the rotation is one of the key tasks this off-season.

A rotation of:
1. Justin Verlander
2. Jordan Zimmermann
3. Anibal Sanchez
4. Daniel Norris

Followed by a mix of  Matt Boyd and Kyle Lobstein , in the #5 slot, would be a definite improvement over last season's rotation that included Alfredo Simon, who was a complete bust in his 31 starts.

One could argue that Norris would slide into the #3 spot to help save wear and tear on Anibal Sanchez, who, after starting 29 games in his first full season in Detroit, in 2013, has started 21 and 25 games, respectively the past two.

A healthy Veralander in the #1 slot, followed by Zimmermann would give the Tigers a very solid top of the rotation.

The free-agent Zimmermann is anticipated to be looking for a contract of about 6 years with a total value of anywhere from $126 to $138M.
